How many people wish to take six months off from their life to live in another country and not have the pressures of work?

I have this amazing opportunity right now. To live in Italy for six months while my husband is on an exchange program at the oldest university in Europe, the University of Bologna.

Taking leave from my public sector job in Melbourne, I have started to write this blog about the places I go, the people I meet and how these experiences impact me. All of photos in the blog are my own, unless otherwise attributed.

I get to reset. Redefine myself. Let go of some parts of my life back home and explore some things I have always wanted to do but have never given the time.

The title of the blog, Passionate Abandon, is a phrase I have heard in church, to live a life of passionate abandon with God at the centre. I love the phrase and the challenge it poses. It also motivates me in my writing, I will not be afraid or self-conscious but to be passionate, full of hope and open.

As a person who has always loved planning and working toward concrete goals, this new lifestyle is not without its challenges. Good thing I love challenges.
